A message from the Founder and CEO:
"My Journey To Financial Independence"
They say “necessity is the mother of invention”.
For years I have been skeptical about the performance of my investment advisor. And I’ve especially been worried about how much his fees were eating up of my investment return.
I also was concerned that he never used dollar cost averaging to help ensure my shares were purchased at an “average” price. Instead, he would make large purchases at a time to get my money invested as quickly as he could to start earning his 1% on the invested money.
This was good for him -- but it wasn't good for me.
I felt like I was being ripped off. And I hated that feeling.
I wondered if I could do it all myself and save money.
So I made a New Year’s resolution on January 1st, 2016. I printed out a sign and taped it on my office wall that read in large bold type:
However, I had a problem.
There was so much I DIDN’T KNOW…
It was impossible for me to figure out the performance of my combined accounts. And I had no way of measuring the performance of these combined accounts against their relative benchmarks.
I didn’t even know my overall asset allocation or how I should rebalance. Or what amount I should invest monthly if I wanted to use “dollar cost averaging” to enter a new position.
In a word, I was frustrated.
My investment advisor had all the tools and therefore all the power. That was “his” job.
I knew if I could just get my hands on an easy-to-use tool that could aggregate my accounts, show me my asset allocations, give me information about rebalancing, calculate monthly dollar cost averaging, and show me my true performance relative to the benchmarks, I could fire my investment advisor.
The most important thing to me was seeing the information in a simple format that I could understand.
I was willing to spend thousands of dollars, if necessary. I figured it would be worth the investment and pay off in the long run with all the fees I’d be saving.
There was one small problem. I couldn’t find such a tool.
Surprisingly, it didn’t exist!
I repeatedly searched Google for days and only came up with only 2 options:
1) Use desktop software that was so clunky and confusing that I needed an accounting degree to use it
2) Use a web site that was cumbersome entering transactions and didn’t give me anywhere close to everything I needed. Plus, I was worried about uploading all of my transactions to the "cloud". I wanted to keep my privacy.
Neither of these were an option for me since I didn’t have the skills of an accountant nor was I willing to settle on functionality.
I decided I had no choice but to create my own investment manager from scratch in Excel that would do everything I wanted.
And that’s how Net Gain Portfolio Manager was born.
I’ve been using Net Gain now for months now to manage my own portfolios and it is nothing short of a dream that has been realized.
It’s kind of funny because when I started creating Net Gain my intention was to create a tool for ME.
But then it dawned on me that there must be other investors out there who are in the same situation that I was in. They have no idea what their true performance is, what their asset allocation is, how much they’re spending on fees, or even what their net worth is.
And so I decided to create a commercial version of Net Gain to help empower other investors.
And now I’m the CEO of this company and this is my full-time passion.
I hope you find Net Gain as helpful as I do. I believe it will free you from your investment advisor, high fees, and high expense ratios and will revolutionize your investing.
With the insight provided by Net Gain, you get to keep more of your hard earned money.
And what investor doesn’t want to do that?
